A feed pane browses the poller's own response shape. The tree comes from the last successful probe, stored on the unit, so the pane works before anyone presses Fetch.

- Fetch sample calls the feed once, server-side, and stores the payload as the sample. The page must be saved first — a probe runs on the server.
- Fields the feed already writes are marked linked; picking one reuses its mapping rather than minting a second writer for the same value.
- Picking an unmapped field creates the field mapping and binds the slot to it in one step.
- With no sample yet, the pane still lists the fields the feed already writes, so you can bind without probing.

> **Warning:** A probe failure appears in red above the tree — a bad URL, an auth rejection, or a timeout. Fix it in Units before binding against a shape you have not seen.
