# Remote Control

> Drive Glider from Bitfocus Companion, a vision mixer or a show controller over a vMix-style TCP API, OSC or HTTP.

Glider documentation · Playout & On Air · Web page: https://cgglider.com/docs/remote-control/

Sections of this page: [TCP API](https://cgglider.com/docs/remote-control.md) · [Functions](https://cgglider.com/docs/remote-control/functions.md) · [OSC & HTTP](https://cgglider.com/docs/remote-control/osc.md)

vMix's line protocol.

Settings › Remote Control turns on a TCP listener that speaks the vMix TCP API's line protocol, so anything that can drive vMix over TCP can drive Glider: Bitfocus Companion's Generic TCP module, a mixer's macros, or a one-line script. Port 8099 by default (change it when vMix runs on the same machine); Accept other machines off keeps it to this machine.

```text
FUNCTION Take Item=1                      -> FUNCTION OK Completed
FUNCTION TakeOut Page=Show&Item=Lower third
FUNCTION Unit Unit=Match clock&Action=start
FUNCTION Take Item=99                     -> FUNCTION ER No rundown item "99" on Show
TALLY                                     -> TALLY OK 120
SUBSCRIBE TALLY                           -> SUBSCRIBE OK TALLY, then TALLY OK … on every change
STATE                                     -> STATE <bytes>, then the page's rundown, units and outputs as JSON
VERSION                                   -> VERSION OK 0.1.0
```

Tally is one digit per row of the default page's active playlist: 1 on air, 2 in preview (the next take), 0 off — so Companion can light a button per row.

> **No password, like vMix:** Anyone who can reach the port can take graphics on and off. Keep Accept other machines off unless the control network is trusted.
