# Stream Deck: Key actions

> What a key can do.

Glider documentation · Playout & On Air · Web page: https://cgglider.com/docs/stream-deck/keys/

Sections of this page: [Setup](https://cgglider.com/docs/stream-deck.md) · [Profile & banks](https://cgglider.com/docs/stream-deck/profile.md) · [Key actions](https://cgglider.com/docs/stream-deck/keys.md) · [Feedback](https://cgglider.com/docs/stream-deck/feedback.md) · [Runtime](https://cgglider.com/docs/stream-deck/runtime.md)

| Layer | Does |
| --- | --- |
| actions | Unit and animation actions, fired in order — the same model control-panel buttons use. |
| event | A page event fired after the actions, so a key can drive reactions too. |
| system | Deck-level: switch bank, step bank, start/stop/toggle a page's runtime, set brightness. |

A key with no explicit event still fires one derived from its caption, so a key captioned TAKE OUT behaves like a panel button named the same thing. A take naming a rundown item the page no longer has is dropped rather than applied.

## Styling

A key's style is a caption (wrapping, honouring newlines), text colour, background, optional font size, a single glyph icon, and vertical alignment.
