A key–value map holds pairs of the same value type — choose it at the top of the entries list. Add a key, type its value, rename a key in place. A map is read one key at a time: bind a plate's background to vars.colors.GS.

A single value has one input of its type: a text field, a number with − / + steppers, an On/Off switch, a colour picker or an image path.

> **Note:** Control-panel widgets can drive a Variable directly: point a slider, a text input or a button at vars.<name> (or vars.<map>.<key>, or vars.<list>[<row>].<field>) and the operator's change goes through the Variable, exactly like an edit in the panel.
