The endpoint and how to add it to your agent.

POST /api/mcp is a JSON-RPC 2.0 endpoint on the Model Context Protocol's Streamable-HTTP transport, protocol version 2025-06-18, answering in plain JSON. initialize returns the server's instructions and an Mcp-Session-Id header that keys the agent's session.

The AI tab's agent chat uses the same endpoint, pre-bound to the open page with ?pageId=<id>&host=editor-chat, plus &conversation=<id>&context=<id> so every turn of one chat shares a session. The instructions initialize returns are a short brief, because clients keep only about 2,000 characters of them; the full server guide and playbook are sections of get_layers_catalog.
